Whitireia Spring Newsletter
published 2017
process
For the final newsletter of the year, I was in charge of its production. After Ruby and Margot sent me the final articles, I took care in reformatting them for web and sprucing it up with more images I found from trawling through past editions that featured the lovely illustrations by Sarah Wilkins from Jenny Bornholdt's A Book is a Book, after checking with the tutors that we had permission to use them.
To make sure they fitted nicely, I did some Photoshop work to cut and piece a few of them together from more complex illustrations so they weren't too overpowering. I did the same for some of the 'dividers' in this edition – the standard ones are typically straight grey lines.
I also felt that the newsletter needed more colour, and went about organising mini photoshoots for the projects we wanted to feature! These were the 4th Floor literary online journal, Dawn Raids, Performing Dramaturgy and The Pony Club.
Finally, I tested the links and anchors, making sure they all worked as intended by sending several tries to myself, Margot and our tutors before releasing its final version to the subscribers.
